Best 3D Settings for Intel Graphic Media Accelerator/ nVidia and ATI AMD Graphic Cards

This Article will cover ways/ tweaks / technique to set your graphic cards /driver so that you can get the best 3D performance from it especially

those who love pc gaming and associated applications that heavily rely on 3D graphics.
this post will cover intel graphics openGL 3D Settings
nVidia 3D Settings
Amd / ATI Catalyst 3D Control center settings

This tweak is applicable to all graphic cards for best performance. even if it is an upcoming card.
This method will slightly sacrifice quality for performance but you wont even notice this at all so it is worth it
NOTE: please you must not that most modern games comes with their own 3d performance settings please first make sure you set this to get the best

performance. to help you in this reduce sound and music volume, reduce game brightness, reduce the games resolution to 800 x 600 or at most 1024 x

768, and your picture quality for games should be set to low or at most medium please dont use the default settings of any games as it tends to it up
your computer’s resources.
Disclaimer: Apply wisdom in setting this and do not over-tweak your card

♣ I will Start with nvidia card

I will give you a step by step guide to what you can do to this card to maximize performance in the Performance console:

This basically for 3D Settings Useful for nVdia Geforce, forceware and nforce

Anisotropic filtering: set it to 8x
Negative LOD Bias: set it to Clamp

The rest is not likely to have much effect, but if you want:

Anti-Aliasing gamma correction:> Off
Anti-Aliasing: > Application controlled
Anti-Aliasing transparency:> Multisampling
Conformant texture clamp: >Use hardware
Error reporting:> Off
Extension limit:> Off
Force mipmaps: >Bilinear
Maximum pre-rendered frames: >1
Multi-display/Mixed-gpu acceleration: >Single display performance mode
Texture filtering: Anisotropic sample optimisation: >On
Texture filtering: Quality: >Performance
Texture filtering: Trilinear optimisation: >On
Threaded Optimisation:> On
Tripple buffering: Off*
Verticle sync: >Application controlled**

There is various consideration on tweaking the vsync**Enabling “vsync” will cap your frame rate, usually at 30 or 60 frames per second. Performance

can suffer as a result so only enable it in games where you are already getting a steady 60 frames per second.
Vsync is used to eliminate image tearing which becomes more apparant when playing games at higher framerates. Another benefit of enabling vsync is it

stops your GPU from over-rendering frames, meaning your gpu will do less work and thus run cooler.
*Enabling tripple buffering can improve performance with vsync enabled.

And for Your Intel Graphics Media Accelerator For Mobile openGL 3D Settings
The following seetings will give you best 3D performance the defaults is in the image below
and the modified settings follows immediately
the default settings is below

And Now the Modified settings:

Asynchronous Flip >> on

Triple Buffering >> off

Flipping Policy leave as default that is off or flip if you have old card

Depth Buffer Bit Depth >> default is okay

Force S3TC Texture Compression >> on

Force FXT1 Texture Compression >> off

Driver Memory Footprint >> off it makes little difference anyway (unless on an overclocked system)

Texture Color Depth >> on or 32 bit

Anisotropic Filtering >> on

restart your games and you will notice improved performance.

the intel settings above applies to :

2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 3000/2000
Intel® 82945G Express Chipset
Intel® 82946GZ Graphics Controller
Intel® 82G965 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH)
Intel® G31 Express Chipset
Intel® G33 Express Chipset
Intel® G35 Express Chipset
